Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) has not shared a specific date for its Ryzen architecture lineup, but according to a report by DigiTimes, it will launch by the end of February and will enter global mass shipments sometime in March. This should be announced at CES 2017 in January where AMD will also detail the complete lineup as well as pricing.
The launch of Ryzen is a crucial piece of success for AMD and consumer expectations for the new architecture are high. The report states that Ryzen is priced aggressively, due to which motherboard manufacturers are raising their orders based on their expectations. AMD has begun supplying their new AM4 based X370, B350, and A320 motherboards to their partners who have almost finished testing and designing the chipsets.
AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su described 2017 as a “high performance” year for the company. Not only does AMD have a new CPU architecture in the pipeline, its new Vega GPU architecture is also scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2017. AMD showcased its Ryzen CPU paired with an unknown Vega GPU at the New Horizon event to highlight the red team’s unique strength in catering to both markets. The Ryzen CPU was also compared with Intel’s $1,000 Core i7-6900K processor in multiple scenarios that all fared in favor of AMD’s CPU.
Ryzen is also expected to boost demand for AMD GPUs which will translate to more market share by the end of 2017.
