More rumors surface about a big announcement at E3 this year
The word for upgraded consoles is in the air and there have been a lot of reports, rumors and whatnot for upgraded consoles coming in soon. While Sony Corp.’s (NYSE:SNE) PlayStation 4 upgrade or PS4.5 or PS4K, whatever you call it, has had its own set of rumors, new rumors have started surfacing for an upgraded Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One being revealed at E3 this year.
According to a recent statement by Brad Sams, who is known as an insider for Microsoft, the company is going to reveal “new hardware and a new controller” at E3 this year. The statement by Sams was written on Thurrott.com and he mentioned that the new controller is going to be very similar to the current Xbox One controller in the design department but will “most likely come in a new color”.
Sams also wrote that Microsoft is planning a much bigger announcement related to the Xbox One’s hardware; and while there are rumors in the air of a new Xbox One Elite console, he does not have any information on the announcement as of right now.
This is certainly very interesting news. Looks like Microsoft is following the same strategy as Sony in releasing an upgraded console. This is contrary to the statements given by the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, saying that he would not be working on an upgraded Xbox One. However, it is worth noting that the E3 announcement could be anything related to the Xbox One’s hardware and it is not yet known that what exactly the upcoming announcement is going to be. It must also be noted that Microsoft has been pushing its Windows 10 operating system as part of the Xbox ecosystem for a while now and the new hardware could very well be something related to unifying the Windows 10 experience with the Xbox One.
