Google Goggles is being integrated into the company’s official camera app to make it easier to search for information by taking pictures
Even though Alphabet Inc.’s (NASDAQ: GOOG) Google Goggles is not a new feature, the fact that it is being integrated into Google’s official camera app shows a lot of promise.
Google Goggles is basically an augmented reality app; it allows users to search for information by simply taking a picture of a thing or a place. Now that the feature will be integrated into Google’s camera app, and all users will need to do to get information about a particular painting for instance, is to take a picture of it and voila; they will get all the information they will ever need.
It is important to note that Goggles reads Spanish, French, German, Russian, Turkish, Italian and English text. Additionally, it can translate them into other languages as well. On the other hand, it also functions as a QR code/ barcode scanner; once integrated into Google’s camera app, the possibilities are endless.
Google Goggles was first introduced back in 2009 and it is simply quite surprising to see that the tech giant did not utilize and integrate it into several of its other products earlier on. Now that it has, it could be used along with several of its other apps to offer an experience unlike any other. At the same time, it is possible that feature will be integrated into all Android phones in the near future.
